What Is a Final Exam Grade Calculator?

A final exam grade calculator is a straightforward device that responds to the common query: exactly what’s required on the final exam to get the mark that I desire? It assumes that your current grade average is fair and averages the weightage of the final grade to calculate your required score on the exam. This calculator for the last exam will be used by the students who want to know how they should study, who set realistic goals, and how they know before the last exam where they stand.

How to Use the Final Grade Calculator

Our grade needed calculator requires little time and effort. In the first place, decide between percentages or letter grades. Then, write where you are now, with your class mean grade (letter grade before the final). Enter the desired grade below, for the overall grade at which students will want the class to end: Lastly, put in the weight for the final exam (from your course syllabus). The score changes in real time, and tells you what you need a score on your final exam to achieve.

The Formula behind the Calculator

It’s the easy formula if you prefer to do your own calculations. Calculate (Average grades – weight ant.b) multiplied by (1-weight fin) and divide by weight fin. When you have to write the weight as a decimal, the final value of 25% is written as 0.25.

A Quick Example

Assume your average is 82% now and you wish to have a grade of 85% when it is over. Your final exam is worth 25% of your grade. Using the formula, 85 minus 82 times 0.75 equals 23.5, and 23.5 divided by 0.25 equals 94. If you get 94% on your last paper you will be ending your student’s term with 85%. Suppose you are currently at 88% for your grade, you would like to be at least an 80% for your grade, and the final exam carries 30% of the overall grade. The average result in the calculation is for only around 61% or so on the final, which won’t leave you with a lack of margin for error.

Understanding Your Results

If the calculator gives you a number less than 0 then you have definitely achieved the grade target, even if you get a 0 on the final. If the score is between 0% and 100% you are on your way, make this your aim with your studies. If it is higher than 100% it may not be achievable without additional credit and you might want to change your aim a little.

Why Use a Final Grade Calculator?

It is easier to study, when you know what your score should be. It eases exam pressure and/time management for multiple classes. If only a 60% in one subject is required, then it’s possible to give higher energy to more challenging courses. It can be used with high school, college and university courses which have a weighted final exam.

What Grade Do I Need on My Final to Pass?

To find out what grade you need on your final to pass, simply enter your school’s passing grade, usually 60% or 70%, as your desired grade. The calculator will immediately display the lowest final grade that one must get in the final exam to pass the class.
